If you are in Hickory/the Unifour area of Western North Carolina, we hope you will consider joining Charlie's Chaplains. This hospital ministry was established in 1991, patrolling the halls of FRMC and tickling funnybones ever since.

Now a "New Generation," FRMC Charlie's Chaplains is truly a 'hospital creative ministry,' delighting and entertaining FRMC patients, staff and visitors alike with varied performance arts.

If you are not located close enough to Hickory, NC to make regular visitations but would like to attend Skool '08, you are invited to apply. Our training is geared (and approved) by FRMC/TENET, as all of our activities are. This does not guarantee to "transfer" to any other hospital, as most will have their own training programs and ideas. HowEVER, we think our training well addresses this venue and would help prepare a new hospital clown/performer, as well as enrich one more experienced.

FRMC Charlie's Chaplains was honored to be featured in The Hospital Clown Newsletter in January, 2007. Click here to read a PDF version of our story...

"Experience" Necssary?

No experience required.

In fact, many who attend our Skools have never clowned or performed in a hospital or healthcare setting. "Beginner" Level classes are always offered, including makeup application, costuming and beginner performing skills. Some Skool students have experience. For them, we offer "Intermediate" to "Advanced" Level classes taught simultaneously.

A note about our training: You will never hear anyone from Charlie's Chaplains' Hospital Creative Ministry say our training is the "ultimate" end-all training program. This is because we do not believe there is any such thing. None of us will proclaim to be THE expert, because we believe learning is an ongoing process, if you are still alive and GROWing!

Our training works for us. We are happy to share with others. Through the years, we have trained several area ministries and clown troupes, while helping other hospitals establish or strengthen their own groups.

NOTE: Applications are subject to a review/acceptance policy.

Skool'08 Registration closes Friday, September 12 @3PM!

Please check this site for future Skool dates & details... thanks for your interest.
